Cypress Grove Procedures

General Information

  • Bell Schedule: Student 4th period class will determine which lunch they have which they will learn on the first day of school. RISE is the new name of our advisory period and stands for: Reach Individual Success in Excellence through Response, Intervention, Support, & Enrichment.
  • TRANSPORTATION – Know how you are getting to and from school on the first day and the rest of the year if different from the first day. PLUS, know your after school transportation if it is bad weather.
  • BUS – If you ride the bus, know your bus number. You can contact CSISD Transportation if you do not know the bus number or bus stop. (979-764-5440) 
  • CAR RIDERS – Car riders are dropped off and picked up on the east side of the building ONLY (the side closest to Hwy 6). Do not drop off in the front (bus drop off) or the west side (Special Services bus drop off & bicycle riders leave their bikes on this side as well). You will be asked to move to the correct side.


At afternoon pick up time each day, parents need to pull around the car rider side. Students will be dismissed to you from their respective hallway. Tags will be given to you to place in your window. A staff member will also be out asking about your student so we can get them quickly and efficiently to you in line.

  • WALKERS/BIKE RIDERS- These students enter the building through the back doors that enter into the end of the main hallway by the gym doors. Have a rainy day plan established as well. 
  • MORNING ROUTINES: Our school day is from 8:25 to 4:00.  Students can enter the building at 7:50 am.  
  • LUNCH – Will your student bring their lunch or buy? If buying, make sure they have money with them or on their account. The cafeteria does not let students charge. 
  • MEDICATIONS – If you take medication at school, ALL medications must be brought to the school nurse in the original marked container by the parent and a form must be signed. 
  • WHAT TO WEAR – All clothes need to comply with the CSISD dress code. This can be found on the school and district websites. Students who are not in dress code compliance will not be allowed to be in class until appropriate clothes can be brought to them by a parent.
    • Clothing should cover the body and should fit in such a manner as to promote the modesty of individuals.
      • Shoes should be worn at all times.
      • Clothing with distracting holes or tears with skin visible are not permitted.
      • Clothing shall be of such length and design to cover the mid-section of the body.
      • Sheer or see-through clothing requires a camisole or tank top that covers the midriff underneath.
      • Pants must fit at the waist.
      • Hem lengths of dresses, skirts, shorts, and skorts must be below each individual's fingertips. Clothing should meet fingertip length at all times.
      • Clothing shall not be worn which displays:
        • Offensive, obscene, vulgar, or suggestive pictures or slogans.
        • Pictures, symbols, or slogans associated with gang activity, or subversive groups or activities which incite violence or are deemed inappropriate for a school setting.
        • Pictures or advertisements for alcohol, drugs, or tobacco products including but not limited to beer, wine, liquor slogans, or registered trademarks of such companies.
      • Sleepwear such as pajama pants is not allowed.
      • Headwear is allowed for medical reasons or as a legitimate expression of a student's religious practice and faith. Hairnets, picks, combs, or rollers/curlers are not allowed to be worn in a student's hair on campus.
      • Blankets should not be work inside the building. ​​​
  • START/STOP TIMES – We begin class at 8:25 am. If a student arrives after this time, they will be marked as tardy. We finish our day at 4:00 pm. Tardies to first period do count towards truancy. All walking and drive gates will be locked at approximately 8:30 am and opened at approximately 3:55 pm. No student checkout from the office after 3:30 pm unless there is an emergency. After this time, please go through the car rider line. Also, plan appointments accordingly for pick up before 3:30 pm from the office.
  • PARENT PARKING –Please DO NOT park in the fire lanes at the front or sides of the building. 

IMPORTANT REMINDERS FOR FIRST DAY-

  • Please realize that on the first day of school, you will NOT be able to walk your student into the building.  
  • Students need to make sure they have a copy of their schedule with them on the first day so they know where to go. Schedules can be accessed through HAC after the start of the school year. We will also have a copy of student schedules in 1st period. 
  • Our school day is from 8:25 to 4:00. Please make sure your child is at school on time as tardies to first period count towards truancy.
  • Please make sure that your child knows how they will be getting home.  If your child rides the bus, please make sure that they know their bus number.  Click here for the CSISD Transportation Website. Please discuss a rainy day plan with your child so that they are prepared if there is bad weather at the end of the school day.
  • If your child will be a CAR RIDER in the afternoon, you will need a car tag for your car each afternoon.  These tags will be available for you to pick up the first few days of car pick up. Please write your child’s LAST NAME, FIRST NAME, & GRADE LEVEL in BOLD letters.  You will place this on the dashboard of your car each day when picking up.  This line may take longer than normal at first to get through so please be patient. Please pay attention to the teachers outside instructing you to pull all the way up as the poles are numbered and we will send your child to your vehicle once you have pulled all the way forward. 
  • If a student is in Orchestra or Band, they are NOT to bring their instrument until their teacher instructs them. 
  • FIRST WEEK WALKERS/BIKE RIDERS – If you want to walk with your student, please wait for them outside on the front west side of the building. Walkers exit the building through the fine arts hall (if they need to pick up their instrument) or back hallway. Make a plan of where and when to meet safely away from the back of the building if you are coming onto the grounds to walk your student home.

Home Access Center (HAC) 

  • The Home Access Center (HAC) allows guardians to access their children's grades, attendance, and other important information. 
  • HAC login and passwords are available online for new users who have an email on record with the school district. 
  • If you have an existing account, your login and password will remain the same.

Cypress Grove AM Arrival Procedures 

Doors open at 7:50 a.m and breakfast begins at 8 am. At 7:50 am, students will be let into the building on the car rider side, cafeteria door bus side, and back door by gym. At 8 am, the breakfast line will open and all 5th graders not eating breakfast will go down to the gym until dismissed to first period. 6th graders stay in the cafeteria until dismissed to first period. The exception to this rule is if they need to attend tutorials or fine arts.

  1. Walkers- Students should enter the building in the back of the school. These doors will open at 7:50, but it is highly encouraged to wait until after 8 am when students can move about the building to their designated areas since we will have more supervision at that time. Students must use sidewalks and crosswalks when walking to campus. If walkers arrive before 7:50, they are to sit outside the back door. Sports & recreation are not allowed before school as we do not have adequate supervision for this to happen. 
  2. Bike riders- Always use the sidewalks and crosswalks that are provided. Students should dismount their bicycle as they make their way onto the campus grounds and secure their bicycle in the bike rack located adjacent to the west side entrance. Students should enter the building in the back of the school. These doors will open at 7:50, but it is highly encouraged to wait until after 8 am when students can move about the building to their designated areas since we will have more supervision at that time. If bike riders arrive before 7:50, they are to sit outside the back door. Sports & recreation are not allowed before school as we do not have adequate supervision for this to happen. 
  3. Car riders- 
    • In the east side driveway, form two lines to keep traffic from backing up into the street. Once you reach the bend in the driveway, you will merge into one lane for student drop off. While waiting for the gates to open, please stay to the right side of the road for those 
    • Drop Off: Utilize the east side car drop off (opposite faculty parking), continue down the drive as far forward as possible before allowing your child to exit the vehicle. At 7:50 am, students will enter through the 6th grade hallway doors. It is imperative that your child be prepared to exit the vehicle quickly and safely with all necessary items already in hand (lunches, instruments, and backpacks). Please pull all the way up instead of stopping at the respective hallway as your child can walk back down the sidewalk to not back up traffic.
    • When dropping your student off, please do not wait for someone to open your child’s car door. Pull all the way forward past the lane barriers to the numbered poles so that other cars may exit the drive. 

Cypress Grove PM Pick-up Procedures 

School is dismissed at 4:00 p.m. We have a staggered release to handle congestion in the hallways.

  • Walkers and Bike Riders will exit first through the back door or fine arts door if they have to pick up an instrument; please use the provided sidewalks and crosswalks. 
  • Bus riders will be called to head to the cafeteria and leave as the buses arrive.
  • Car riders When picking up a car rider, you must utilize the east side car drop off (opposite faculty parking). The faculty parking lot is not a pick up spot; you will be asked to move to the car line.
    • Please pick up a car tag for your car during the first few days from the car pick up line.  Please write your child’s LAST NAME, FIRST NAME, GRADE LEVEL in BOLD letters.  Place this on the dashboard of your car each day.
    • All vehicles are to start in two lanes and merge into one lane of traffic for student pick-up. 
    • Continue down the drive, and pull as far forward as possible. A staff member will be stationed to communicate your name to a staff member under the breezeway. 
    • The students will be instructed to walk to a pick-up station that is designated by a number that is located on the post. We tell the students to go to a designated number 1-7 as we try to allow for cars to safely enter the pick up area. Please do not call your student to your car as they have already been given a number to go stand at.
    • If at all possible, please have your children enter the vehicle from the driver’s side. 
    • As you pull out of the pick-up line, be aware of other students entering their cars.
    • All walking and drive gates will be locked at approximately 8:30 am and opened at approximately 3:55 pm.
  • The front entrance is to be used ONLY for bus pick-up and administrative office business during morning drop off and afternoon pick up. The opposite side of the school (faculty parking lot side) is for special bus transportation and Kids Klub pick up, so please DO NOT have your student meet you there if you are picking up by car from school. You will be asked to move to the car line.
  • Please drive SLOWLY through the campus and be patient with students, staff, and other parents. 
  • Follow all directives from the teachers on duty as student safety is our first priority.
  • At approximately 4:15 p.m., any remaining students will be moved to the front entrance for pick-up. At this time, pick up your student from the front of the building.

Discipline Intervention Strategies

We maintain consistent discipline in the building and teach clear expectations for behavior to students. 

We know that students will not always meet our expectations. When students fail to meet the expectations we have taught, the students will be redirected and/or retaught the expectations and interventions will be put in place. Students who repeatedly choose to break district, school and classroom rules will have additional consequences assigned.

At Cypress Grove, our goal is to work together with other staff and with the student’s parent(s) to find a solution for student misbehavior. 

If a severe disruptive behavior occurs (the student is hurting themselves or someone else, the teacher can’t teach because of the behavior or the behavior is illegal) which demands immediate administrative action, call the office for administrative removal and follow up with a referral.  Do not leave your class unattended—if you must escort the student to the office yourself, you may need to request a neighboring teacher to watch your class.  

Principal’s action may include one or more of the following options of disciplinary measures as outlined in the CSISD Student Code of Conduct book: 

  • Warning/conference
  • Detention before/after school
  • Lunch detention
  • Emergency Removal for the day
  • In-School Suspension (ISS) assignment
  • Suspension from School—not to exceed 3 days at one time
  • Alternative Educational Placement (DAEP)—assigned by principal
  • Expulsion.

Infractions may deviate from the ones listed below, but these are the most common forms of infractions noted:

Mild Infractions:

  • Tardy to class
  • No homework
  • Out of seat without permission
  • Throwing things in class (no intent to harm)
  • Gum (if not allowed)
  • No materials/supplies

Moderate Infractions: 

  • Falling asleep in class
  • Talking without permission (after given warning(s))
  • Arguing with teacher
  • Failure to comply (after given warning(s))
  • Swearing (inadvertently)

Severe Infrations:

Include behaviors that are illegal or so severe that the misbehaving student’s continued presence in a setting poses a threat to physical safety or to adult authority and interrupts the learning environment. Includes (but not limited to):

  • Illegal acts - drugs, stealing, destruction of school property, swearing (with intent)
  • Physically dangerous acts - fights, bullying/harassment, racial/gender based teasing, throwing objects with intent to harm
  • Acts of defiance/disrespect - overt and immediate refusal to comply with reasonable adult direction which has been given respectfully multiple times
  • Leaving classroom without permission

Discipline will result in school consequences relative to the behavior severity by infraction.
